Get your lost data back in 4 easy Steps
Stage 1: Bring or Send Device
Physically Bring over the device to our office in Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya. You can also send a rider to deliver the device. For those outside Nairobi, You can send it via G4S. For those outside Kenya, you can send via DHL or Bus Courier. Before sending, wrap the device around with bubble wraps or news papers, then package it properly in a box. This will prevent further damage on transit.
Stage 2: In-Lab Diagnosis Process
Diagnosis process helps us determine the extent of damage, chances of success, how long the process will take and how much it will cost. We have 2 kinds of diagnosis.
- Standard Diagnosis, this takes 6 to 48Hours.
- Emergency Diagnosis, this takes 2 to 6 Hours.
Stage 3: Actual Data Recovery Process
Once client approves the quote after diagnosis, the actual repair & data recovery process starts. We first repair the failed components or firmware of the device, take an image, then do data extraction. This process will depend on the extent of damage. Normal cases will take 1 to 4 days and complex cases can take 14 days or more. Cases that fall under emergency such as Servers, are given priority and can take lesser time.
Stage 4: Data Verification & Collection
Once data recovery is complete, we check the integrity of the data to make sure it’s working and usable. The client will get a chance to verify the data either physically at our office or verify via remote connection ie anydesk or teamviewer. The final process is copying the recovered data to a new storage. Client is required to provide another storage for copying the recovered data ie hard disk, flash disk, mem card etc
Data loss can be devastating, we understand the frustration that comes with loss of data. Before attempting to recover data on your own, give us a call and we will guide you on the steps to take to recover your data.
Case Urgency Options
East Africa Hi Tech Solutions offers case urgency options to prioritize data recovery services based on the urgency of the case. This ensures timely and efficient recovery of critical data. Here are the options.
Diagnosis Options
This involves checking what the issue is, chances of success, how long it will take and how much it will cost. Diagnosis stage is a very important stage and should not be skipped.
1. Standard Option
East Africa Hi Tech Solutions offers a comprehensive standard diagnosis process, taking 6 to 48 hours, to identify the root cause of tech issues and recommend the best solutions for optimal performance. This option is for data that is not very urgent and not time sensitive.
2. Emergency Option
We provide emergency diagnosis in just 2 to 6 Hours to quickly identify critical tech issues and provide immediate solutions for uninterrupted workflow. This option is for data that is very urgent and time sensitive ie SERVERS, projects with deadlines etc
Data Recovery Options
This involves doing the actual data recovery on failed storage devices. Timelines and success rate will depend with the extent of damage. Resources and time apportioned based on case urgency.
1. Standard Option
East Africa Hi Tech Solutions provides a standard data recovery process, taking 3-4 days for logical damage and approximately 14-21 days for physical damage, ensuring secure and effective recovery of lost data.
2. Emergency Option
East Africa Hi Tech Solutions offers an emergency data recovery process, taking 1-2 days for logical damage and approximately 3-10 days for physical damage, providing expedited and reliable recovery solutions for urgent data loss situations. This option is recommended for SERVERS or Data with timelines.
NB: Kindly note these are typical turn times and cannot be GUARANTEED and can only be dependent on the extent of the damage.
Types of data loss
Logical Damage
Logical damage refers to the corruption or loss of data caused by software or logical errors rather than physical damage to the storage device. Examples of logical damage include;
- Accidental deletion of files,
- Operating system re-installation
- Virus or malware infections,
- File system corruption,
- Partition or boot sector damage,
- Software malfunction.
- Firmware damage
- Bad sectors
- Failed Raid Systems
- Disk formatting
Logical damage can often be repaired through specialized software or hardware tools or by manually correcting the errors in the file system or data structure. However, it is important to avoid further data loss by immediately stopping any activity that may overwrite or modify the affected files or storage device.
Physical Damage
Physical damage in data recovery refers to the physical failure of a storage device such as hard disk drives, solid-state drives, flash drives, and memory cards. Examples of physical damage include;
- Head Damage,
- Motor failures,
- Printed Circuit Board(PCB) failures,
- Physical impact,
- Water or fire damage,
- Wear and tear.
- Major bad sectors
- Chipoff
Physical damage often requires specialized hardware and techniques for repair and data recovery, such as replacing damaged components or retrieving data directly from the damaged media using specialized tools. Data recovery from physically damaged devices should only be attempted by professional data recovery services to prevent further damage to the device and maximize the chances of successful data recovery.
If you are facing data loss, here are some steps to take:
- Stop using the affected storage device immediately to prevent further data loss.
- Do not attempt to fix the problem yourself if you are not sure of the cause or how to fix it.
- If possible, try to identify the cause of the data loss, such as accidental deletion, physical damage, or software errors.
- If you have a backup of your data, restore it to the affected device or a new one.
- If you do not have a backup, contact a professional data recovery service to assess the damage and determine the best course of action for recovery.
- If the data is sensitive, take appropriate security measures to protect it from further loss or unauthorized access.
- Review and improve your data management practices to prevent future data loss incidents.
- Be patient during the recovery process as data recovery can take time depending on the cause and extent of the damage.
- On Raid Server, do not attempt to Rebuild the raid. This may overwrite data leading to permanent data loss
To avoid permanent data loss, here are some tips:
- Regularly backup your important data on an external device or cloud storage.
- Use anti-virus software and keep it updated to protect against virus and malware infections.
- Handle storage devices with care, avoiding physical damage or exposing them to extreme temperatures or humidity.
- Avoid interrupting data transfer or power supply to storage devices during use.
- Check and repair any software or file system errors as soon as possible.
- Avoid overwriting or modifying files on a storage device that has experienced data loss to prevent permanent loss.
- Seek professional data recovery services immediately when data loss occurs, especially in cases of physical damage.
- Do not attempt DIY data recovery methods as this may further damage the storage device and decrease chances of successful recovery.
- Maintain good file organization and avoid storing important data in one location to prevent total loss in case of damage.
- Educate yourself and your team on best data management practices to prevent data loss.
